At the moment the paper bags are compostable but not recyclable due to the liner.
We are currently transitioning from our existing brown paper bags to a new specification designed to address oil leakage issues. The updated bags will adhere to the upcoming European regulation restricting Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS), coming into effect on 12 August 2026.You can access the full legislative text here: https://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/EN/TXT/PDF/?uri=OJ:L_202500040Our brown paper bags will be made from 90% Paper and 10% polypropylene (plastic liner) and are free of PFAS (Paper made without polyfluoroalkyl substances). These are chemicals that resist grease, oil water and heat. This composition meets the criteria set by the recycling assessment methodology (RAM) used by the OPRL.
Materials over 90% paper content and 10% polypropylene like this one fall into the green category.
The structure has also been tested and certified by CEPI (confediration of European Paper industries)
CEPI assigns a recyclability score between -100 and +100 and anything above 0 is classified as recyclable.
The structure received a score of +41 , meaning it is officially classified as recyclable structure.
