The ingredients in Akela are human-grade before they are then have to be classified as animal feed once processed so you can be assured that we use the best possible raw materials. Most of our recipes are suitable for weaning through old age but we would recommend consulting the FEDIAF guidelines and ensuring that you do not under or over-feed. The food provides a complete diet and can maintain ideal weight or be used to gain weight or lose weight. The crucial part is how much is fed. The amount of Akela to feed varies from other brands of kibble. Usually, our customers find that they feed less Akela. This is because the ingredients are so nutritious and biologically available that all the goodness is absorbed in the body and there is little waste.
To find out how much to feed please use the feeding guide calculator here.
All puppies and dogs are different and the feeding guidelines should be adapted to take into account breed, age, temperament, allergies and activity level of the individual animal.
We recommend using one of our slow-feed bowls or treat dispensers to encourage your dog to work for their food and increase mental stimulation. Fresh, clean water must always be available.
