Storing treats
As a general rule all of our products should be stored away from moisture, out of sunlight and in a cool place. We also advise, as with any food products, they are stored away from any chemicals and if being stored in a container that it is BPA-free.
It obviously also goes without saying that treats should be kept out of your dogs reach until treat o'clock!
Can I freeze treats?
Freezing the products may introduce moisture which could then harbour and grow harmful microorganisms once defrosted. Treats like our teasers and soft training treats are dried to a particular level to avoid this from happening and to keep them safe. We therefore would not recommend freezing them – instead they should be stored in a cool, dry place where they should be fine for up to 12 months. If the pack has been opened they should be consumed within approx. 3 weeks.
Freezing for a Kong filler?
If something is frozen for a short period of time and then offered as soon as it is defrosted then the risks above are not as prominent. Whilst we officially advise not to freeze any of our products we are aware of some owners who stuff kongs with wet food, treats and pate chub and feed straight away to their dogs with no issues.
