To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the launch of Akela, we made the below tweaks and enhancements to our complete dry working dog food recipes. Below is highlight list of the main changes, which is gradually being rolled out across our range once existing stock has all sold.
Original – the OG and still the customer favourite
- All the Freshly Prepared Chicken is now Free Range (and still British)
- White Potato has been removed and replaced with Tapioca and Potato Fibre
- Replaced Dehydrated Salmon with more Freshly Prepared Salmon (still Scottish)
- Increased Joint Support, Freshly Prepared Salmon & Super Food Ingredients
- Removal of Pea, Chickpea, Rosemary, Garlic & Honey based on customer requests
- Now with chelated vitamins & minerals (increased bioavailability)
- Lower in ash, calcium & phosphorus
- Percentages/amounts for every ingredient are now declared in detail on the back of the bag
Fish Feast
- Increased joint support
- Now with chelated vitamins & minerals (increased bioavailability)
- Some minor tweaks to fish and sweet potato etc
- Lower in ash, calcium & phosphorus
Free Range Chicken (renamed to Freshly Prepared Chicken)
- Renamed to emphasise the key selling point of this recipe as the only 80:20 extruded kibble in the world to use only freshly prepared chicken and no meat meal / dried / dehydrated meat
- Still made using Free Range British Chicken
- Very minor tweaks, see website for full composition

Now with 55% freshly prepared duck (up from 31%) for better taste and digestibility
Enhanced joint support with greatly increased glucosamine, MSM & chondroitin
Improved nutrition profile with upgraded minerals, added algae oil, and rebalanced energy sources
