Cage-Free Policy - Ethically Sourced Ingredient Provenance

Akela supports a cage-free policy which means that we endeavour not to use meats from animals that have been caged. For example, we stopped using rabbit meat in our wet food and treat range as the only commercially available sources of rabbit at the time were caged in Poland & Czech Republic. We are proud to support the Compassion In World Farming campaign to "End the Cage Age".

We use MSC-certified sustainable fish wherever possible. Many of the fish are wild and line-caught e.g. Herring, White Fish (Cod, Haddock, Hake, Plaice and Pollock), Tuna. Some of the salmon and trout are farmed as it is produced for human consumption and some of it is wild.
